In the afternoon we drive to see one of the world most famous attractions the, Postojna cave. If there is something not to be missed in Slovenia definitely this is the Postojna cave. Enter the best known cave in the world with numerous tunnels, passages, galieries, stalactite or stalagmite formations that offer a unique experience of the underground world and with an adveturous train ride its easy and fun. The visit of the cave starts with a train ride, continues with a walking guided tour  and after viewing the ¨human fish¨, the train takes you back to the surface. Viewing time in the cave is one hour and thirty minutes at a temperature of 10°C/45F, so we recommend walking shoes and a jacket. A few miles away you can find one of the most scenic castles in the world the Predjama castle. Nesting on a vertical cliff it enjoys a striking setting and with numerous legends linked with the castle it makes a perfect photo stop.

Day 3 Ljubljana-Lake Bled-Radovljica

After breakfast departure for Lake Bled where we spend two nights in the central area. Lake Bled is surrounded by high mountains, a dramatically placed 11th century cliffside castle and its tiny island with 99 steps leading up to the exquisite Church of the Assumption, the lake presents a fairy tale setting like no other. Our tour of lake Bled area starts first with a castle visit and pletna boat ride to the island. Late afternoon visit of the Bee museum in Radovljica and a very nice dinner.

Day 4 Bled-Vintgar Gorge-Lake Bohinj

After breakfast we explore more of Lake Bled and Bohinj lake area. We experience first the most intact nature of Bled in the first touristically arranged gorge in Slovenia, the Vintgar gorge. The 1.6 km long Vintgar gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills and is graced by the Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids. The educational trail leads you over wooden bridges and Žumr’s galleries, and ends with a bridge overlooking the mighty 13 m high Šum waterfall.

The Vintgar gorge also includes two man-made sights. The single-arch stone bridge of the Bohinj railway, constructed in 1906, which crosses the gorge 33.5 m above the trail, and the dam from which the water is routed to the small Vintgar hydroelectric power plant under the Šum waterfall.

Next stop is lake Bohinj a nature lovers paradise. Lake Bohinj is the largest natural lake in Slovenia. Nested in the heart of the Julian Alps, this jewel is a precious natural resource and at the same time offers endless opportunities for outdoor activities. We first take a cable car to a Vogel mountain. Mount Vogel at 1800m is one of Slovenia’s premier ski resorts in winter. It is also one of ‘the’ best places to check out amazing views over the Alps and Lake Bohinj. Free time and the option to visit Savica Fall. Free evening in Bled.

Day 5 Bled-Vršič Pass-Kobarid -Brda Wine Region

One of the highlights of the tour will be crossing the Julian Alps and reaching slovenianhighest mountain pass Vršič. Once on the top you will be rewarded by one of the best and most breathtaking scenery in the Alps.

We’ll continue our day with a picturesque drive down the famous valley of the Soča river and have a stop at Kobarid to see first world war museum. Kobarid Museum displays exhibits on the events that occurred during World War I on the Soška fronta – Isonzo Front. It covers two and a half years of static fighting and portrays in detail the 12th Isonzo battle, also known as the Caporetto breakthrough. The latter is one of the major battles in the history of mankind having taken place in hilly terrain. The described events are related to the adventures and memories of celebrities, among whom are Ernest Hemingway and Erwin Rommel. Kobarid Museum has received the highest national award, was proclaimed Best European Museum, and won the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 1993.

Day 6 Brda-Štanjel-Lipica Stud Farm- Piran

The morning stop on a Karst plateau is a hill-top village of Štanjel. Štanjel stands on the top of the hill overlooking the Vipava Valley and offers views of the surrounding countryside. In Štanjel series of stone houses are arranged in terraces on the slope and narrow streets end on small squares with stone wells standing out in the middle. In the Middle Ages the settlement was a trading settlement which was secured with walls during Turkish invasions.

The Slovenian Karst region is a limestone plateau rich with potential for exploration. The region is known for its wine production, caves, proximity to the Sea and opportunities for discovering the country’s attractions and culture.

We continue our tour with a visit of Lipica stud farm to admire white horses. The Lipica Stud Farm was established in 1580 and is a unique attraction for horse lovers. It is here that the famous white Lipizzaner stallions are bred and trained. These aristocratic steeds have been serving royalty for centuries. Enjoy Lipica Stud farm with an included guided tour and lipizzaner horse show. Late in the afternoon arrival to Slovenian coastal area – Piran. Among coastal towns Piran certainly holds a special place. It is also called a pearl of Mediterranean coast. The town is considered to be one of the most beautiful and also the oldest of Slovenian towns, the architecture of which reminds one of Venice, which is not surprising if one knows that the Venetians were its masters for several centuries. The settlement began to develop in the 7th century, when Piran was mentioned in historical sources for the first time. Its masters changed throughout the centuries, with the increasing influence of Venice. In 1283 Piran accepted the authority of Venice, which lasted until the decline of the Venetian Republic in 1797.
